The photos of the Opening of "The Journey of the Hellenic Boats" @ OLP
We shared the idea of the exhibition with the people and the President of the Piraeus Port Authority and found their full support on the occasion of the European Maritime Day 2015.
We received an empty untreated and at the same time unique space, the Stone Warehouse of the Port of Piraeus. In the pier that was once full of life.
Our responsibility was to convert this space into a new experience for the visitor. To share with us the magic of the location, between sea and land, the power of the ships, the sounds of the harbor.
We have designed the space divided into four, "embraces" - sections. We have create a space with light and shadows, colors and sounds.
The first section presented details of Greek traditional wooden hulls, their reflections, without any color processing. In this, considering that man is the power, we have selected and incorporated the work with the eager hands of the fisherman.
The second section, with metallic hulls and shipyards, grounded by the saltiness, till rust shining through the light.
The third section of the exhibition goes on favorite parts of Piraeus, Perama, Salamis, Eleusis and presents familiar images, prompting the visitor to see with a another view his daily life.
Finally, the exhibition closed with a video wall presentation of the works, offering an animated view of the photographs.
Trying to create a unique experience for the visitor, sounds of the sea complete the entire exhibition
I would like to thank all of you for sharing with me this journey, your love for the works, all the visitors that came to the exhibition, the guests that became friends, also the children with their parents played and chose their best photograph.
Finally, I am now convinced that something really happens here!
